Background

Plywood is a $60 billion market and widely used materials in the construction of truck bodies, decking, flooring, formwork, furniture etc. However, plywood suffers from a number of disadvantages:

• Increasingly stringent health and safety/environmental legislation governing the use of adhesives/preservatives
• Rotting and durability
• Dense and heavy
• Poor recyclability

Solution

Since 1995, EPL have been researching and developing methods of producing lightweight thermoplastic composite sandwich panels as an alternative to plywood.

Thermoplastic composite sandwich panels are manufactured on a continuous basis by welding the outer high strength thermoplastic composite skins on to an inner thermoplastic composite honeycomb or foam core.

Thermocomp Ltd has the worldwide exclusive rights to commercialise this technology. Thermocomp Ltd are looking for partners to licence this technology on a global basis.
